THANK YOU FOR A BEAUTIFUL EVENT

For the final focused dinner in our year-long series, we'll visit two countries in South Asia, one very small and one very big: Bhutan and Myanmar. We will eat noodle soups and wild mushroom curry and sel roti and sweet rice cakes. And we will hear about what it's like to be driven from your home for being different; speaking a different language, practicing a different spirituality and having different cultural traditions.

Our Burmese chef, Pa Wah, fled war with her family, spending most of her early life in a refugee camp in Thailand and immigrating to the US in 2011. What a life - and what a story to hear. Our guest chefs from Bhutan, Khari Maya Subba was part of the Lhotshampa people, forced to leave in the early 2000's, arriving here in LA in 2013.

The partner organization for the evening is Oakland Bloom, the business incubator in Oakland where Pa Wah honed her cheffing skills. Oakland Bloom aims to advance economic equity in Oakland by providing educational training and hands-on support for aspiring chef entrepreneurs from refugee, immigrant, and low-income communities who seek to start their own food businesses.

Pricing: We're committed to being and building an inclusive community while also making the event sustainable for the chef. Everyone is welcome at our table and to help that happen we are offering sliding scale tickets prices which include dinner, drinks (alcoholic & non) & stimulating discussion.
$85 - A portion of your ticket subsidizes someone who can pay less.
$65 - If you earn a living wage this ticket helps the chefs do the same.
$45 - Join Us! We are grateful that you choose to spend your money on this event

and are excited to have you at the table!
If you are feeling inspired to come but $45 doesn’t work, please email us.

As our political discourse gets more polarized, it becomes ever more important to have places where we can have meaningful connection discovering inherent connections to one another. Join us for an evening of delicious food paired with just as delicious conversation, leaving with both your belly and mind full.
